The Ultimate Mental Health Awareness Fashion Show of 2022

If you have not already heard the news, May is mental health awareness month! It’s a big deal to us here at Lav Chieré because we want to spread awareness and reduce the stigma surrounding mental illness. Here to help us fulfill this mission are four incredible brands who have partnered with “Women’s Unplugged Entertainment” by Quiana Bradford to create the ultimate mental health fashion event. Bradford’s “My Mental Health Fashion Show” that recently took place this past Sunday May 15, 2022 in Atlanta, Georgia featured vendors, live performances, and most importantly, four creative designers: Big Baby Slim, Her Love, Weirdos Only, and B.L.O.W. Women Unplugged by Quiana Bradford

Women Unplugged Entertainment, founded by Quiana Bradford, has a mission to open up opportunities for talented people in the creative industry. The mental health fashion show is one in many of those amazing opportunities which creates an atmosphere of community. As her company continues to reach more people while just starting in 2020, Bradford is leading a legacy of women’s empowerment for brands and individuals. A “colorful, unique, eccentric” brand by Dajah Cain, aka “Big Baby Slim”, the streetwear designer. Big Baby Slim’s collection this year features exclusive fashion made from one to one pieces, handmade and designed to fit each body wearing it . In her featured collection from the “My Mental Health Fashion Show”, you can find pieces like those seen above which are full of bright colors and designs that say things like, “Peace”. In addition, she expresses mental health awareness through her designs. Big Baby Slim supports mental health awareness through her expressive clothing.

Her Love Clothing | by Tamika Watson

“Her Love Clothing” by Tamika Watson is a great women’s empowerment brand that stands for self-love and dope style. She created the women’s empowerment brand with a mission to advocate for self love and creativity. She uses her talent to design stylish pieces like those seen in the image above. “Her Love’s” featured collection at the “My Mental Health Fashion Show” consisted of comfy athleisure, with bold printed designs of the brand’s logo. This Baltimore, Maryland based brand has a crown in it’s logo to remind women that they deserve to be treated like a queen in an effort to empower women.

Weirdos Only | by Esintrik & INDIGOBLUEMERMAID

This eccentric and beautiful brand expresses a rather intentionally unique art through fashion. The designers of Weirdos Only, Esintrik and Indigobluemermaid, believe fashion can express more than what meets the eye. They describe their style as manic and liberation, which can be interpreted by the uniquely crafted pieces above. On their “Weirdoville” website, their mission to create an inclusive community of like minded “liberated weirdos”, a.k.a people who are different is apparent.

Beauty Lies Only Within (B.L.O.W.) by Shari, is another strongly femininely influenced brand that stands for women’s empowerment.
